Araldite 420 A/B Epoxy Adhesive
Product Information
Araldite® 420 A/B Epoxy Adhesive
Araldite 420 A/B is a high-strength, two-component (2-part) structural epoxy adhesive engineered for reliable bonding ofmetals, composites, ceramics and many rigid plastics. Its balanced mix of toughness and shear strength makes it a provenchoice for aerospace, automotive, electronics, rail, marine and general industrial assembly where durable, long-termbonds are critical.
Key benefits
- Structural bonding performance for demanding industrial applications.
- Excellent adhesion to aluminium, steel, composites, ceramics and many plastics.
- Gap-filling epoxy system for uneven or machined surfaces.
- Durable bonds with good resistance to vibration and fatigue.
- Reliable performance across a wide operating temperature range.
- Balanced working life and cure speed to suit production lines and repairs.
Typical applications
- Metal-to-metal and metal-to-composite bonding (e.g., brackets, stiffeners, panels).
- Structural repairs on vehicles, aerospace fixtures, sports equipment and industrial assemblies.
- Bonding of inserts, fasteners and housings where mechanical fixings alone are insufficient.
- Potting/filleting of joints requiring high shear and peel strength.
Why choose Araldite 420 A/B?
Compared with conventional one-part adhesives, Araldite 420 A/B delivers predictable, repeatable structural performance, excellent environmental durability, and strong adhesion to challenging substrates. It helps reduce weight by replacingor supplementing rivets and welds, enabling cleaner aesthetics and improved stress distribution.
How to use
- Surface preparation: Clean and degrease bonding surfaces. Light abrasion and solvent wipe typically improve results.
- Dispense & mix: Combine Part A and Part B in the manufacturer’s specified mix ratio (by weight or volume) until uniform. Use dual-cartridge with static mixer where available.
- Apply adhesive: Spread a uniform layer; assemble parts within the working time.
- Clamp & cure: Maintain contact/pressure until handling strength is achieved; allow full cure before service.
Note: Always refer to the product’s Technical Data Sheet (TDS) and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for exact mix ratio, pot life, cure schedule, and safety guidance.
