Cutting Fluids & Compounds
Cutting fluids are liquids used to enhance the efficiency and quality of metalworking processes. They are used to cool, lubricate, and protect cutting tools and workpieces from heat and friction, ensuring that the cutting process runs smoothly and efficiently.
At ConRo Electronics, we understand the needs of industrial manufacturers who require high performance products at competitive prices. That’s why we offer an unbeatable selection of cutting fluids and compounds that are designed to meet your specific requirements. Our products are sourced from leading manufacturers such as Ambersil and Henkel and have been tested to ensure their performance and reliability.
Conro Electronics is an authorized distributor for Ambersil and Henkel.
Types of cutting fluid
Some of the most common types of cutting fluids include:
- Mineral-based fluids: Petroleum-based, these fluids are cost-effective and offer good lubricating properties. However, they may not provide as much cooling as synthetic fluids.
- Synthetic fluids: These are known for their higher cooling rate, but they tend to be more expensive than mineral-based fluids. They are usually water-based and contain no mineral oil.
- Semi-synthetic fluids: Also called soluble oils, these fluids are an emulsion of water with mineral oil. A detergent is used as a coupling agent. These fluids are ideal for heavy-duty machining operations.
Benefits of cutting fluids
Cutting fluids provide a number of benefits that improve the quality of metalworking operations:
- Cooling: Cutting fluids help dissipate the heat generated during cutting, reducing the risk of damage to cutting tools and workpieces.
- Lubrication: Cutting fluids reduce friction between cutting tools and workpieces, which can help extend the life of tools and improve the quality of cuts.
- Rust and corrosion protection: Cutting fluids can help protect cutting tools and workpieces from rust and corrosion, extending their lifespan.
- Improved surface finish: Cutting fluids can help ensure a clean, precise cut, which can result in a smoother and more polished surface finish on the workpiece.
- Increased cutting speed: Cutting fluids help reduce the risk of tool damage, which can result in increased cutting speed and improved productivity.
