Sikaflex-221 bonds well to a wide variety of substrates and is suitable for making permanent elastic seals of high adhesive strength. Suitable substrate materials are metals, metal primers and paint coatings (2-C systems), ceramic materials and plastics.

Sikaflex 221 Bonds to Almost Anything
Sikaflex 221 Adhesive Sealant is suitable for use on:
- Paint-coated surfaces
- Metal
- Plastics
- Ceramics
- Metal primers
The surfaces need to be clean and dry prior to application, but other than that, no special preparation is needed.
Fast, Air Curing
Once the adhesive is applied, the humidity in the air reacts with the compound, causing it to cure rapidly. Sikaflex 221 can be used straight from the container and doesn’t require mixing with a catalyst or activator to cure.
Easy Application
Sikaflex bonding is sold in a generically sized container that’s compatible with both manual and powered sealant guns. The canister can be slotted into place in the gun, then dispensed in the same way as other sealants.
300ml is a suitable size for small bonding jobs, jobs that will be completed by hand or jobs in tricky locations where space is limited.
Water and Corrosion Resistant
Once the adhesive has cured, it’s resistant to damage by salt water, fresh water, UV light, diluted acids, diluted corrosive substances, oil and fuels. This polyurethane bonding material is also resistant to changes in temperature – expansion and contraction are minimal in most environments.
Sikaflex 221 Can be Painted Over
Once cured, Sikaflex bonding can be painted over and/or sanded down to form a smoother surface.
