LOCTITE 271 Red Threadlocker MIL-S-46163A Type I Grade K

Loctite 271 is a military-grade threadlocking adhesive designed for the permanent locking and sealing of threaded fasteners. This red threadlocker is engineered to withstand the toughest operating conditions, preventing loosening caused by heavy shock, vibration, and thermal cycling. Its anaerobic curing system activates when the adhesive is confined between close-fitting metal surfaces in the absence of air, ensuring long-lasting and secure fastening.

Loctite 271 features a low viscosity for reliable penetration into threads. Once cured, it creates a high-strength bond ideal for fasteners up to M25 in size. It also fluoresces under UV light, providing an effective method for quality control inspections. Loctite 271 is tested to meet the requirements of Military Specification MIL-S-46163A and ASTM D5363, ensuring consistent quality and performance.

How to use Loctite 271 Red Threadlocker:

1. For best results, clean all surfaces with a solvent.
2. If curing speed is too slow, use an activator spray such as Loctite SF 7471 or SF 7649.
3. For thru holes. Apply several drops of the product onto the bolt at the nut engagement area.
4. For blind holes. Apply several drops of the product down the internal threads to the bottom of the hole.
5. For sealing applications. Apply a 360° bead of product to the leading threads of the male fitting. Leave the first thread free.
6. Assemble and tighten as required.

Storage

Store Loctite 271 Red Threadlocker in the unopened container in a dry location. Optimal Storage: 8°C to 21°C. Storage below 8°C or greater than 28°C can adversely affect product properties.
