  • CW-807 Halogen-Free, No-Clean Flux-Cored Wire

    CW-807 is Indium Corporation’s best-selling flux-cored wire, primarily because it is compatible with all Indium Corporation no-clean solder pastes, wave fluxes, and all common soft solder alloys. It also solders very well while still meeting the most recent requirements of J-STD-004B type ROL0. CW-807 contains less than 500ppm total halogen, so it can be considered halogen-free by both J-STD-004B and JEITA ET-7304. CW-807 passes the more stringent Surface Insulation Resistance (SIR) and Electromigration (ECM) requirements of J-STD-004 revision B; therefore the no-clean residue will be electronically safe for virtually all applications. Also when properly configured*, cored wire with CW-807 yields superior results in automated soldering operations, including laser soldering.

Product Specification

  • Halogen-free per J-STD-004B* *To be halogen-free per J-STD-004B, the formula must contain less than 500ppm of any kind of halogen, ionic or nonionically bonded chlorine, bromine, or fluorine. This is new to J-STD-004B since fluxes that conform to the original J-STD-004 or J-STD-004A may still contain halogens that only disassociate at soldering temperatures, but leave a residue that contains ionic halogen.
  • Light-colored, low-smoking, rosin-containing flux Rosin, modified rosins, and resins contribute to enhanced heat stability and reliability. However, in some cases, rosins and resins may interfere with probe-testability.
  • Tested compatibility with Hot Air Solder Leveled (HASL), Immersion Silver, Electroless Nickel Immersion Gold (ENIG), and Organically Solder Preserved (OSP) Copper surfaces.
  • Tested for use with all common lead-free and tinlead alloys, including: SAC305; SAC105; SAC0307; SACm®; 96.5Sn/3.5Ag; 63Sn/37Pb; 60Sn/40Pb; 93.5Pb/5Sn/1.5Ag; Indalloy®227; Indalloy®254; silver-free tin-copper plus additive alloys, such as Indium Corporation’s Sn995; and many others.

    Introduction CW-301 wire solder is cored with a high reliability water-soluble fl ux that is compatible with Indium's full line of Pb-Free soldering materials. It provides excellent solder spread with minimal smoking and low odor. The fast wetting speed is benefi cial in minimizing rework cycle time which is typically longer with Pb-Free solders.

    CORE 230 wire solder is cored with a no-clean flux that is fully compatible with Indium Corporation’s NC-SMQ®230 Pb-free solder paste. It contains a heat-stabilized rosin that provides excellent wetting and solder spread on various metallizations used in Pb-free assembly processes.

  • Core 230 RC Robotic

    Indium Corporation’s Core 230-RC is a formula developed to meet the demanding requirements of robotic and laser soldering. It incorporates a highly effective activator package with new “no-spatter” technology in a high-reliability flux media. Core 230-RC is fully REACH compliant, containing no REACH Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs). Core 230-RC is not used solely for robotic and laser soldering since it also performs exceptionally well in hand soldering applications. The no-spatter feature eliminates flux spatters that can burn operators’ hands.

  • No-Clean Flux-Cored Wire

    Indium Corporation has developed a range of flux-cored wire solutions to meet the needs of virtually every electronic assembly and rework operation. Flux-cored wire solutions are created when the desired alloy, cored-wire flux, and flux percentage are combined into a void-free, perfectly layer-wound package which can be easily used for both hand soldering and automated wire feed solder. Indium Corporation prides itself on providing the industry’s widest range of flux-cored wire solders for both standard electronic assembly as well as highly specialized needs. No application is too large or too small.

Product Specification

  • CW-807 Standard Halogen-Free No-Clean: This formula provides a balance of properties needed for high-reliability no-clean soldering and rework—high-reliability, considered halogen-free, low smoke, non-offensive odor, clear residue, and fast wetting to clean copper and solder-coated surfaces. CW-807 meets the requirements of J-STD-004 and J-STD-004B as a ROL0.
  • CW-807M Higher Activity No-Clean: CW-807M has the same characteristics as CW-807, but with a small addition of halogen activator for more difficult-to-solder assemblies. This formula is considered ROL0 by J-STD-004, but ROL1 by the updated J-STD-004B.
  • CW-807H No-Clean for High-Temp Alloys: CW-807H has very similar characteristics to CW-807, except that a high-temperature modified rosin has been substituted for the lower melting point rosin used in CW-807. This change makes the CW-807H slower wetting with standard solder alloys, but provides heat stability when soldering with high-lead content, high-temperature alloys for applications such as “down-hole” electronics, while still maintaining the same reliability characteristics.
  • CW-802 Low Activity No Halogen Added No-Clean: While very small amounts of halogen (<500ppm) are perfectly fine and considered halogen-free for virtually all electronic assemblies, some electronic assemblers want a formula that eliminates as much halogen as possible. CW-802 was created with this in mind. However, it is recommended only for applications where no halogen is a must, the surfaces to be soldered are in pristine condition, and the process is well-controlled.
    Formula
